Bulldogs, corgis and wiener dogs to compete at Vancouver racecourse this summer

Vancouver canines will get the chance to race for the title of “top dog” this summer.

The Hastings Racecourse and Casino’s “Dog Days of Summer,” will see Bulldogs, Wiener Dogs and Corgis compete within their own breeds for titles and a champion prize pack worth $500.

Bulldogs will kick off the first round on May 25 and 26. Registration for owners to enter their pets ends on May 19.

In order to register for the event, owners are required to answer questions about their dog’s personality, favourite food, favourite activity, Instagram page and why they believe their pet has what it takes to be the top dog.

Candidates set to compete have already been featured on the Hastings Racecourse and Casino’s Instagram page

A few competitors registered for the race consist of Mack Attack, a bulldog described as “spunky and sassy with a side of sleepy,” Gilbert, who loves bananas beaches and naps and Koko the reigning champion from 2018.

Corgi races, scheduled for June 22 and 23 will open registration May 21. Those interested in the Wiener Dog races, slated for July 13 and 14, will able to register on June 17. More information on the event can be found here.
