New research shows that Canada is a country of video game players.
Survey results by marketing research firm Mintel showed 65 per cent of Canadians play video games. An even larger majority of young people are playing video games, as the survey found a whopping 96 per cent of men aged 18 to 34 play video games and 80 per cent of women in that age category also do.
While most people enjoy playing video games, just watching others play has become a fairly popular pastime in recent years. Researchers found 23 per cent of players say they have gone online to watch others play, and 56 per cent of men aged 18 to 24 said they have done so.
More than one in five players also said e-Sports are just as important as real sports.
