Guelph police charged a local man who broke into a business and caused considerable damages with an unusual weapon of choice.
A press release issued by the Guelph Police Service said the man poured soy sauce all over the business’s electronics after he allegedly pried open its safe and stole $2,400 in cash. said he had been hiding in the bathroom until the business was closed for the day.
Before making his exit through the windows, the alleged soy bandit attempted to break the glass with a rubber mallet, but then then threw a chair through the glass.
He also caused what police call a “significant amount of damage” to ceiling tiles, walls and venting.
The total loss to the business is estimated at just over $100,000.
Police arrested the man last week after identifying him using surveillance footage.
