Porn hack hits Saskatchewan bingo hall

They were all winners.

Players at a bingo hall in Prince Albert, Sask. got an unwelcome surprise Monday evening, as porn started to blare on one of the venue’s TV screens.

Management at Carnival Bingo said someone hacked into its system and started playing the video for an unknown amount of time.

“We had some new technology installed in the building and had a bit of a security breach with that technology,” Manager Todd Bernier told local news website paNOW.com. “We’ve since had that corrected.”

Bingo player Anna Merasty captured the episode on camera and posted a video of the incident on Facebook. It has since been viewed 79,000 times.

Merasty told paNOW.com that at the time, she noticed the woman in front of her was laughing, and looked around to see what was funny. That was when she saw the TV and started filming.

“My sister later won bingo so you can say she got lucky twice,” she said.

Bernier said he reported the incident to the police, and that the hall has “someone working” to figure out how the breach happened.

He added the hall received a number of calls about the incident Tuesday, but that people were generally understanding.
