Four Quebec men love oysters so much they set a new world record for eating them.
Christophe Joubert and Étienne Marcoux had their efforts matched by Nicolas Galotte and Loic Jougla last week at a Montreal restaurant.
The teams of two scarfed down a total 492 oysters in 27 minutes
Ilene Polansky, owner of Maestro SVP restaurant, has been hosting the oyster eating challenge at her business for years.
She was present when the teams broke new ground.
“They didn’t want to stop. We had to put the oysters away from them,” she told the Montreal Gazette.
Jonathan Brunet and Michael Côté Gagnon held the previous record, set in 2012, with
480 oysters consumed in two hours and 15 minutes.
